What We Do

Scenic Train Rides

Trains depart our restored depot in  Milford, NY just south of Cooperstown throughout the spring, summer, fall, and holiday season. Tickets for any train available throughout the season.

Volunteering

Join our 100% volunteer crews. Help restore and operate our former D&H branch line to Cooperstown and our historic railroading equipment from the D&H, CN, DL&W, and many more roadnames.

Charters and Guest Engineer Program

Organizations, Schools, and other groups can charter a private run for up to 200 guests, or individuals can take the throttle of one of our locomotives round trip to Cooperstown.

The Leatherstocking Railway Historical Society is pleased to announce the resumption of rail passengerservice on its Cooperstown & Charlotte Valley Railroad beginning Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 2:00pm, withour popular Spirit of the Old West Robbery Train, departing from the Milford Depot, 136 E. May 2021 Passenger Update

Dear Passengers: Due to the continuing uncertainties and restrictions in place regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Leatherstocking Railway Historical Society has decided to not set up an initial schedule of trains for the 2021 Season. We are hoping, however, that the Pandemic will have subsided to a point where we will be able to schedule Fall Foliage and Christmas Trains later this year. Dear Passengers: As we continue to monitor the COVID-19 Virus (Coronavirus) Pandemic, the Cooperstown & Charlotte Valley Railroad management has determined that it is in the best interest of our passengers and volunteers to cancel all remaining scheduled trains for the rest of the 2020 Season.  This decision is again based on recommendations and mandates from both the Federal Centers for Disease Control and the New York State Department of Health’s phased opening guidelines.
